Fan Art: A Different Fandom

Mystery fans don't do fanfic and fan art quite the same way or to the same extent that science-fiction fans do, but they do exist. And fandoms have arisen around some mystery and detective TV series.

Spenser for Hire, based on Robert B. Parker's series of novels, only lasted 3 seasons and 66 episodes, but it is well remembered, especially for Avery Brooks' portrayal of Hawk, the title character's friend and occasional partner. There were later TV movies with a different cast, but this is the one I still think is the best. Robert Urich caught the attitude of Parker's character for me, especially in his voice-over narration.

So here's my look at the cast, including Barbara Stock as Spenser's one-and-only, Susan Silverman.
